Handloom weaving is a dialogue between thread and touch, where every movement of the artisan’s hands seamlessly weaves the warp and wefts together. This creates pile rugs with harmonious patterns and balanced textures that are pleasing to the eye and gentle underfoot, turning each rug into a timeless expression of human skill and artistry.
Hand-Tufting is the alchemy of plush design. Artisans use a tufting gun to insert yarns either looped or cut, allowing for use of varying yarn counts to create piles of different heights. This enables producing luxurious, high-pile, textured rugs. Perfect for modern or traditional motifs, each piece is soft, versatile, and full of character.
Braided rugs, also known as “granny rugs,” were born out of necessity and frugality, where old worn-out clothing, fabric scraps, and wool remnants were braided together to make rugs that held deep sentimental value. The technique continues to be used to create rugs that evoke feelings of cozy living reminiscent of a bygone era.
It is a traditional Indian craft for making light flat-woven, usually reversible rugs. It gets its name from ‘Panja’, a metallic claw-like tool used to beat the weft threads tightly into the warp. This technique is popular for creating durable flat woven kilims often featuring geometric, tribal, floral and animal patterns.
It is a manual weaving method using a horizontal loom usually set over a pit. The weavers operate the treadles with their feet to control the warp threads while using their hands to pass the weft through the warp threads. This meticulous hands and feet coordination allows for variety of patterns to be woven. The rugs woven are thin and flat.
It uses a mechanised loom for weaving, ideal for making patterns that consume too much of the weaver’s strength and require more uniformity.
A technology originally used for making seamless tubular garments is now modified to make carpets. It is a specialised machine using inter-connected needles that make textured floor covering with complex and intricate patterns. It allows for creation of patterns and textures that are otherwise difficult to achieve by conventional techniques. This method allows for faster and more cost-effective production.
